Celebrating World Pharmacists Day 2016

Celebrating World Pharmacists Day 2016

Pharmacists across the globe are holding activities today in celebration of World Pharmacists Day (Sunday 25 September 2016). Now in its sixth year, World Pharmacists Day, is used by members of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) to highlight the impact and added value of the pharmacy profession and its role in improving health to authorities, other professions and the media, as well as to the general public.
The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Pharmacists: Caring for You’ to reflect how the role of pharmacists has progressed from one of medicines supplier to that of care provider.
In a special video message to pharmacist colleagues around the world, FIP president Dr Carmen Peña, said: “Today on World Pharmacists Day, I would like to convey my heartfelt thanks to all pharmacists around the world. This year’s theme — “Pharmacists: Caring for you” — reflects our emotional connection to patients and the important role we have in providing care to the public.
“I am proud to see that, now, in the sixth year of World Pharmacists Day, more and more pharmacists and the public in general join us in recognising and celebrating our profession. As care providers, we pharmacists, have achieved tremendous success in our goals to improve patients’ quality of life.
“I invite you to join me and your colleagues today in celebrating World Pharmacists Day 2016. Take this opportunity to promote our profession, and demonstrate just how much we care for our patients. I wish you all a happy World Pharmacists Day!”
The video message can be viewed in full here.
Free campaign materials, available in six languages, which include a Twibbon or a specially designed ‘I care for you’ placard for use on social media profiles, are available to download from the FIP website.
Pharmacists are all invited to send images and details of their activities to adlan@fip.org, which FIP will share around the world.
